[He would rather not discuss the nightmares that haunt him at night. How he jolts awake each and every time the clock chimes four. He doesn't want to talk about all the guilt his carrying upon his shoulders over both Eddie and Max.
How he's distant himself from Nancy now that Jonathan is right back in the picture.]
( Nancy wants nothing more than to be able to show she’s there for him. It’s… Hard. Steve has Robin now (whatever their thing is...) and after all that’s happened, after all of this mess, she feels him drifting away again.
She knows he doesn’t owe her anything, but it hurts to see it all happen nonetheless. )
I think there’s a lot to talk about, but I also understand if you don’t want to.
But you’re not alone in this. Steve. I promise you that.
[It stings to read her reply about how he's not in this "alone" but before he accident got both Robin and Eddie tied up in the horrors of the Upside Down he was. Nancy had been so focused on Jonathan and when the two actually started dating, Steve became like all exes did.
( That’s entirely on her, though in all fairness Nancy probably needs a wake-up call on that note - she doesn’t seem to realise just how much her behaviour has affected Steve, how her focus on Jonathan put him in an awkward position in the middle of this whole thing and so, even though she speaks from a place of concern, she probably doesn’t get it.
She’s trying her best, though. At least right now, she is. )
[Steve hasn't placed any kind of blame upon Nancy. It took him a hot minute but he now understands why she ran straight into the arms of fucking Jonathan Byers. Steve practically drove her to it.
So he stepped aside. Especially after she basically confessed she never truly loved him.]
( There’s still accountability - and Nancy knows, at least deep down, that Steve would be entitled to not trusting her. To not want to talk to her. But he is! Even if he’s being difficult, but she has to give him a break. Everyone has been through so much and he… Well, he’s been there on the front lines when he could have just said “screw it”.
Not a lot of people have as big a heart as Steve Harrington does. )
Alright… Like I said, I’ll believe you.
But I’m here for you. If you just want to talk, or hang out and blow off some steam.
[Since their breakup the two have become pretty distant but thats common with breakups, right? These past years Steve has gotten a rude wakeup call. He's alone.
He always goes back to an empty home. He had no visitors those times he went to the hospital for injuries he suffered from Hargrove and the Russians.

… Fine. If it’ll make you feel better.
It's just… Argh, never mind.

That. Icon!!!!
That better?
couldn't resist <33
( this is no time to sound exasperated, but she’s genuinely worried! )
... Sorry.
Do you want to talk about it?
It's <3

I just can’t help it.
