[Steve's pretty exhausted himself. It's been a shitty couple of days and he's just over this Scoops bullshit. He's also really hungry and he would rather not cook this late. ]
[Look, Steve can be a total jerk but he wasn't about to allow Robin to walk home alone and hurt. Anything possibly horrible could have happened to her. ]
[He blows it off like it's nothing, and maybe to him it really is. He's a puzzle. Just when she thinks she has him figured out, he does or says something that thwarts her attempt to solve him.]
Just a couple soft tacos. [She doesn't carry much cash with her for safety reasons.]
[Steve Harrington is a hard case one can't unlock. He surprises himself sometimes. He makes the turn that pulls into the Taco Bell and he stops before heading towards the drive thru. ]
[The sarcasm in Steve's voice is dry and slightly frustrated. He pulls up to the drive thru and puts in their order. Thankfully they are the only ones in line.
[She smiles a little at his sarcasm and she glances at him sideways as he pulls the car around.]
My house isn't too much farther. [She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and lays her head back against the headrest once more.] Not far from Forest Hills.
[Steve shifts in order to pay for their food. You also have to give him a second Robin because he gets a bit caught up flirting with the pretty girl in the window.
He then pulls his car around so that he can handle over Robin her food and drink. ]
[She rolls her eyes, but is otherwise unfazed by the flirting. She takes the food, tucking some cash into the center console of his car as nonchalantly as possible.]
Pretty close to it, yeah. [She takes a sip of the coke.]
[Jesus Christ. He must sound like a total controlling dick but he's genuinely concerned about her well being. Especially with terrifying monsters and guys like fucking Billy Hargrove.]
[She blinks a couple of times at that, bristling momentarily, but choosing to let that reaction go because she's not oblivious to the fact that some really creepy shit has happened in this town.]
Is this coming from...all the shit that happened a couple years ago with Jonathan Byers' little brother? Or is this more because of the Billy thing?
[She opens her mouth to respond, then takes a bite of taco instead, taking her time coming up with a reply because it's not like she's unconcerned. She's aware of the dangers. Had even felt it when Billy touched her. There had been...darkness there. Real darkness. Disturbing. A chill ran through her at the memory and she glanced at him sideways.]
You'd really wanna drive me home every night we work til close? [Which frankly is most nights.] That's a lot.
Steve can't make her allow him to drive her home every single time they work together. He also doesn't want to make her feel uncomfortable or freaked out. ]
[Steve doesn't freak her out. He doesn't even make her uncomfortable. There's a weird sort of comradery between them that she doesn't really understand, but maybe it's just because they share a shitty job and they're the only ones they have to talk to most of those days. Except when his random children show up. She's still trying to figure that one out.]

Also starving. Preference?

Taco Bell?

[He's literally hungry enough to get anything. ]
no subject
Thanks. For the ride. [She's saying it now so she doesn't forget. She's an asshole but she's not that much of an asshole.]

What would you like ?

Just a couple soft tacos. [She doesn't carry much cash with her for safety reasons.]

....That's it?

[She manages to say that with a completely straight face. Somehow.]

Makes for a smooth process. ]

That trailer park, right?

Pretty close to it, yeah. [She takes a sip of the coke.]

[He mutters as he unwraps one of his own tacos and adds some much needed sauce. ]
You walk home a lot?
no subject
[Since he's apparently fine with eating in his car, she unwraps one of her tacos and does the same.]
no subject
I can give you rides home if you need them ?
no subject
Maybe just until the pain goes away? [Her voice is soft now. She thinks there's a good chance she'll be mostly recovered in a day or two, but.]

It's not a problem.

Okay. If you're sure.
no subject
But in all seriousness. He wants Robin to be safe and to get home safely. ]
I wouldn't have offered if I wasn't.
no subject
Okay. [It's probably weird that Steve is more concerned about this than her parents have been since she started working.]
no subject
Shit, even then. ]
Its settled then.
