[She slips out of bed beside him early Sunday morning, showering quickly, piling her hair up in a clip atop her head and getting dressed before she takes over the entire kitchen, though she cleans up as she goes. She's more than halfway through prepping for dinner when she starts on breakfast -- French toast and bacon, figuring Steve will be waking up soon. She's putting the finishing touches on breakfast when she hears him on the stairs and she glances at the clock -- nearly ten. Not bad timing-wise on her part. Yay.
She'd taken time to make up not one, but ten Easter baskets on the kitchen table, all of which are overflowing with Easter grass, colorful plastic eggs filled with candy (and some spare change in a few of them), and chocolate bunnies in packaging. They're set neatly side by side, labeled with names but out of the way of the two place settings that are set up for breakfast. She wipes down the stove, setting the plates on the table just as Steve enters the room.]
[Steve isn't really much for holidays anymore. They lost their magic years ago and he's not much for celebrating. It's the delicious smell of food that pulls him out of bed, stretching every part of his body as he does so.
He rubs the sleep from his eyes before he heads down the stairs. Clearly Robin is bright eyes and bushy tailed this morning. He comes to a slow stop when he notices the adorable Easter baskets along the table.
[She hasn't been much for holidays for years, because her parents had very strange ideas about holidays and what they should mean. She knows from some of their conversations that holidays overall weren't Steve's thing either, for similar reasons to hers but...
But she'd gotten this idea a few days ago, and this felt like a chance to reinvent what it was all supposed to mean. Or what it could mean. It could be fun and different. They could make their own rules about holidays. Plus Max was coming home tomorrow. And maybe she'd gone overboard, but that's just how she is when she gets excited about something.]
Sleep okay? [Neither of them, to her knowledge, had startled awake from any nightmares, which was a nice change.]
[Steve could have slept the whole day away. He's feeling pretty exhausted here lately due to being slightly overwhelmed with Max moving in. Thankfully his house was pretty much prepared for her arrival.
At least he hoped it was.
He can't help but tilt his head a little at the decorative baskets. ]
And...yeah. I thought it'd be fun to give all the kids Easter baskets. [Especially since it would be Max's first without any parents in the picture at all.]
I made yours first. And then I was thinking about how maybe the kids' parents don't do anything for them for Easter, and we know Max's won't be and...it just sort of spiraled from there.
Yeah, I guess. [She considers.] My parents never wanted to do anything for Easter but I always envied the kids who got all the candy and had fun, you know? There...may be about two hundred plastic eggs hidden around the house for tomorrow.
[Because she has no idea that all of the kids will be there to help Max get settled.]
:D

Oh yeah. Busy was an understatement.]
Morning.

[You got a bit carried away, Robin! These kids are little shit heads!]

[She points to it. It's the biggest of the ten, but mostly because she plans to eat some of the candy, so.]

[He hasn't had an Easter basket since he was like 7 or so, Robin. ]

You really went all out for the little shitheads, huh?

[Jesus Christ, Robin. Hopefully she didn't go anywhere near the pool.
He sighs slightly, a hand going up to run through perfect and slightly messy hair. ]
I'm not much for Easter, ya know ?

[She moves to get the milk out of the fridge to pour them something to drink with their breakfast.]
Just figured we could do better than our families did.

[Thanks for that reminder,Robin. ]
This will be good for Max. Smart thinking on your part.

Thanks. Hope you're hungry?

[You know it's his all time favorite meal, Robin. You never skip breakfast.
Ever. ]

Great. Eat up.
[She plants herself at her usual spot at the table and picks up her fork.]

[He nods towards both the food and cute Easter baskets.]
Thanks.

Thought it might be interesting to start our own tradition.

[Robin of all people knows that. Holidays just aren't the same anymore and they're constantly lacking.]
But it'll be good for Max, yeah?

[Hopefully.]

[Eddie literally likes anything that involves food. Especially candy. ]
Eleven too.

Figured we could take Max and Eddie their baskets later today.
no subject
I think they would both really appreciate that. More so Eddie.
