[she sinks a little in her seat, frustrated.]

[He's accepted the fact that he just wasn't enough for her. That weren't as perfect as he thought and thats fine.]

[she grips her hands into uncomfortable fists in her lap.]

[And he wants her to believe him when he says it.]

[He doesn't want to get into another argument about their failed relationship because he knows it's just going to upset her. That's the last thing he wants.

So he remains silent.]

[she sinks a little more into the seat, uncomfortable.]

Well. The movie was nice, at least.

[Well, the scenes he actually watched anyway.]

[she glances at him, looks like she wants to say something else, and then simply lapses into silence until he arrives at her home.]

[He stops his car slowly once they arrive back at her place. Hopefully her mom won't be in a frenzy.]

[there's a lone light on shining through the living room window, and nancy flips sun visor open so she can check her hair and lipstick in the mirror. she sighs, grabbing her purse and glancing at him again.]

Let me know, alright? If you want to hang out again.

[Hopefully her mom doesn't think the worst but then again. He gives a small nod of his head, his eyes watching her every move.]

Sure.

[she stares back at him, her eyes flicking down briefly to his mouth, before she abruptly pushes the car door open and climbs out.]

Get home safe, Steve.

[He mutters low as she dashes to get out of the car.]

[she lingers for a moment, then shakes her head no.]

I'll get there.

[He knows he should just leave it at that but this is Nancy.

And he cares too much.]

Anything I can do?

Give me a goodbye kiss.

[because, really - she's going to try to clear her head after this. put herself on the best path forward.]

[That he could do at least. He shuts off the engine to his car and moves to get out. He rounds the side and walks up to where Nancy is standing.

Hopefully no one is spying on them.

Screw it.

He dips his head down to gently press his lips against her own. ]

[nancy leans up and into him immediately. this is goodbye, is meant to be nothing but a goodbye, and it seems like nancy is trying to memorize the way kissing him feels. she should get inside, send him home, but she's locked here while steve kisses her.]

[Goodbye kisses shouldn't be rushed, right? It's perfectly fine the way his lips linger along her own and an arm wraps around her petite waist in order to pull her closer against him.]

[nancy sags into him, her hands gripping his sides. she's leaning up into him when the porch light blinks twice at her, and she sighs right into steve's mouth.]

[He knows that's a cue for him to stop but he's already well ahead of himself and honestly he didn't want to rush Nancy back home this early.

But their conversation had taken a harsh turn.]

Better?

[He whispers against her lips before his mouth is back on her and he's kissing her deeper.]

[her mom is already going to kill her, so what's it going to hurt if she surges up into that followup kiss, holding the side of his face like it's something delicate. fuck. fuck, she's not ready to let him go home yet.

when they pause to catch their breath, she's going to mutter-]

My bedroom window is unlocked. [her hand slides to his neck, holds it there.] In case that's relevant to you.

[He's not ready to let her go inside yet either. Shit, he wished he had actually told her that. He dips his head down to press a tender kiss against her neck, his arms still loosely around her tiny frame.]

How convenient.
